Who We Are
The Halfmoon Bay Apple Festival is an annual event that celebrates the harvest of apples and all of the wonderful homestyle goodness that comes from apples. We celebrate the harvest of all good foods grown and all neat things hand-made, with a farmers and crafters market.
We celebrate music, with performances from fiddlers of all ages and we welcome anyone who wishes to perform.
We celebrate children with crafts, pony rides and fun things to do while we pass on to them the traditions of the harvest.
We also celebrate our indigenous friends who share with us their shishalh nation here on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
The Halfmoon Bay Apple Festival is brought to you by the Halfmoon Bay Community Association. It begins in the early fall with apple-picking events and applesauce making events in preparation for our annual apple butter canning event that takes place every year on festival day. The apple butter is made on festival day in a huge copper kettle over an open fire.
We welcome all volunteers to participate throughout the fall season by donating apples, picking apples, to help make apple sauce and to help stir the apple butter in the copper kettle on festival day. We invite you to join us, to enjoy the celebration of the harvest. It is our mission to do everything we can to keep this time honoured tradition alive.
