Fiddlers 2014

With each Apple Festival we have been able to witness fiddlers of all ages perform songs like “Happy Farmer” or “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” along with “Song of the Wind.” It is a pleasure every year to see our fiddlers growing up and still playing with us, celebrating music with their families and friends watching. We offer a special thank you to all of our Fiddle Teachers who participate in this occasion.

The Winning Song

Terry ‘Coyote’ Aleck and Christine Turenne of Spirited Native Drums joined us at the 2014 Apple Festival along with their Drum Group to offer blessings and to celebrate the lives of three Roosevelt Elk. Sitting next to Coyote is BC Conservation Officer, Dean Miller who had assisted in the arrest of poachers that took the lives of three female Roosevelt Elk on BC’s Sunshine Coast. The pelts were donated to artist, Helene Gagnon who fashioned them into drums, some of which were being played in this song.
